Soft tissue grafting

Receding gums can cause your teeth to appear unpleasantly long, as well as causing discomfort to the exposed roots. At Gartner Periodontal Care, Dr. Gartner can graft soft tissue to the gum line to improve the appearance of your teeth and prevent further recession and bone loss.

Crown lengthening

Teeth that appear small can cause a “gummy” smile. In some cases, the teeth are not small, but covered up by excess gum tissue. Crown lengthening is a procedure in which the gum tissue is reshaped to expose more of the tooth. This procedure can give you the broad, healthy looking smile you always wanted.

Ridge augmentation

Teeth (or dental implants) naturally maintain the contour of the jawbone in your mouth. Missing or lost teeth can cause the jawbone to recede where the tooth used to be, causing an indentation in the gum line. The replacement tooth can look overly long and unnatural. Bone graft material is placed in the socket and covered with gum tissue. Once this has healed, a natural looking implant can be placed. The result is a younger-looking smile that maintains the bone structure of your jaw.
